It might not feel like baseball season, but plenty of college teams have started their seasons this February.
Only a few weeks into the campaign, and we already have the bench-clearing brawl of the season.
In a game between UC Riverside and Sacramento State on Friday, three players were ejected following a brawl that saw punches and both teams' players leave their bench.
The fight began after a rundown. A Riverside base runner, Eddie Young, appeared to twist the glove of the Sacramento State second baseman, Andrew Ayers, who reacted by shoving the runner in the back. Then the base runner threw a punch and, as expected, players from each team flooded the field.
Both Young and Ayers were ejected. Riverside catcher Drake Zarate was also tossed. All three players will be suspended for four games, according to the Sacramento Bee.
